The east and west coasts of the country are dotted with many beaches for fun, relaxing getaways. These beach towns provide entertainment, relaxation, cultural events, and so much more for visitors to do.

    Fort Lauderdale, Florida

This beach town sits on the state’s southeastern coast, just 25 miles north of Miami. There are 24 miles of beaches here, as well as a plethora of hotels to stay at, restaurants to dine at, and places to shop and sightsee.

Shopping centers like Sawgrass Mills, The Galleria, and Las Olas Boulevard provide an array of places to buy from, as well as vacation relaxation services like spas.

Visit nature centers like Butterfly World and Flamingo Gardens, or check out the Museum of Discovery & Science and Coral Springs Museum of Art.

If you’d like more than a lazy day laying beachside, check out the many places that offer watersports like boating, paddle boarding, fishing, and scuba diving. Fort Lauderdale houses for sale can provide a more permanent place to enjoy the sun and sand.

    Block Island, Rhode Island

High up the coast and riddled with New England charm is Block Island, which is a one-hour ferry ride from the mainland.

There are 17 miles of beaches that have bluffs and lighthouses scattered among them, and the coastal sites are stunning even when the snow falls in winter.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the miles of hiking trails and self-guided bike tours. There are many art galleries to leisurely peruse, and the island’s eateries offer fresh seafood and local specialties with a spectacular view during your dining experience.

    Capitola, California

Capitola began as a seaside tent camp and grew with the opening of Hotel Capitola in the late 1800s. Though the hotel burned down in 1929, the area still holds onto the romantic aura it had during its time.

The colorful buildings that line the coast are seaside shops and restaurants to check out, and the bench-laden Esplanade Park gives visitors a place to rest and take in the view. Even the walls here are colorfully painted, though with artwork from community members.

The Shadowbrook Restaurant is unique in that it has a red hillside cable car that takes riders through gardens and waterfalls along the banks of Soquel Creek.

    Galveston, Texas

A beach may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Lone Star state, but it has plenty of them.

Galveston is one such town, a unique city with Victorian houses and a colorful boardwalk to journey along and take in the scenery. There are several beaches along the 32-mile coastline.

Stewart Beach is a great place for families with its playground, concession stand, and volleyball court. East Beach has a pavilion, boardwalk, and many entertainment options, while Seawall has the historically popular Seawall Boulevard. This sidewalk stretches a little over 10 miles long, making it the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States.

The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier has a rollercoaster, 15 rides, and plenty of other waterfront entertainment.
