Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The CW Network Mark Pedowitz said in a press release, “The CW dares to defy by expanding our primetime schedule to include Saturday night and becoming a full 14 hour, seven-day-a-week broadcast network for the first time in its history.” Here are just a few popular shows in this exciting lineup.
DC’s Stargirl
Writer and executive producer Geoff Johns brings us the coming-of-age superhero drama about a teenage girl played by Becc Bassinger who takes up her stepfather’s mantel as a hero. The CW network will air season three in the spring of 2022, the exact date to be announced.
Roswell, New Mexico
This evocative sci-fi drama follows the story of the teenage daughter of undocumented immigrants. She is caught up in a violent conspiracy when she learns her crush is an alien from outer space hiding his identity and superhuman powers. You can expect to see season four in 2022 sometime in early summer.
Nancy Drew
Based on the popular children’s mystery book series and given a paranormal twist, the show follows the teenaged title character as she solves haunting mysteries, hunts otherworldly entities, makes new friends, and gets in way over her head. No release time frame has been given yet, so keep an eye out for that announcement.
Walker
A reboot of the original Walker: Texas Ranger series of the early 1990s stars Supernatural costar Jared Padalecki as the title character. The series has been renewed for season three and, although no official announcement has been made for a premiere date, inside sources hint at a fall release.
Kung Fu
The CWs Kung Fu is a reimagining of the 1970s series of the same name. It follows the story of a Chinese-American Shaolin kung fu master using her martial arts skills to defend her small community in San Francisco when gang violence ravages the city. Keep an eye out for season two coming to the network in the early Spring of 2022.
Superman & Lois
Another great DC series, Superman and Lois focus more on the personal and romantic life of the titular Clark Cent rather than climactic battles against the forces of evil, though there is still plenty of action and drama. Season two will air alongside other DC properties such as Stargirl in the upcoming Spring season.
